First All-Russia Political
Science Congress
First All-Russia Political Science Congress took place on 17-18 February
1998 in Moscow. It was organized by Academy of Political Science, Russian
Political Science Association with the support of Federal Assembly of
Russian Federation, "Russian Regions" Foundation and Moscow-Paris
Bank.
Over 500 political scientists from 50 Russian regions and from republics
of the former USSR took part it the Congress.
Different possible approaches to topical issues of Russian Political
Science has were discussed at the plenary session of the Congress. Then
individual papers were presented during the work of seven sections and
several round tables.
The sections were:
1. Contemporary Russian Statehood: Problems and Trends of Development
2. Civil Society Building in Russia: Perspectives of Democratic Development
3. Russian Geopolitical Interests: Challenges and Responses
4. Political Education in Present Day Russia, Problems of Political
Science Teaching
5. Applied Studies: Theory and Practice
6. Political Communication: Public Opinion and Mass Media
7. Military and Political Aspects of Security
