Report on Russian scientific conference with international participation "Russian Political Science: Origins, Traditions and Perspectives", Moscow, 2016, November 25-26
On November 25-26, 2016 Russian scientific conference with international participation "Russian Political Science: Origins, Traditions and Perspectives" has been convened at the Russian Academy of National Economy and State Service (RANESS) under the President of the Russian Federation
The conference was organized by the Russian Political Sciences Association (RPSA) in collaboration with the RANESS Institute of Social Sciences and the Academy of Political Science with the support of the Department of humanitarian and social sciences of the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research (RFFR), Fund for Public Diplomacy Support named after A. Gorchakov, ANO "Center for public policy projects and communications," as well as scientific journals "Polis. Political Studies", "Power", "Political Science," "Comparative politics".
The conference was opened by the President of RPSA, doctor of political Sciences, head of the MGIMO Department of comparative politics Prof. Gaman-Golutvina O. V. who made a presentation about the peculiarities of politics and of political science in the process of their movement from parallel to cooperative co-existence. Special attention in the plenary session was given to the results of the elections to the State Duma of the seventh convocation. Development of party political system in Russia after the elections was discussed by Morozov O. V., member of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, scientific Director, study-science centre of state building and management training, Moscow State University.. Politico-psychological analysis of the Russian society between the parliamentary and presidential elections were commented by Prof. Shestopal E. B., head of Department of sociology and psychology of politics, Moscow State University. The motivation of electoral behavior in elections in the state Duma has been considered in the presentation by Prof. Popova O. V., Chair of political institutions and applied political studies at the St. Petersburg State University. The role of values in design of domestic policies was debated by Prof. Mitrokhina T. N., Professor, Department of history, philosophy and political Sciences, Saratov socio-economic Institute.
International issues were covered by invited foreign scientists and experts. The overall status of the contemporary global political science was overviewed by the President of the International Political Science Association Prof. Ilter Turan (Turkey). Problems of conducting an independent policy in conditions of external sanctions was a subject of presentation by Ali Asghar Soltanieh (Iran), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Advisor to the Vice-President of Iran. German expert Prof. Heinrich Best, Chairman of the Research Committee "Political Elites" of the International Political Science Association (Germany, University of Jena) presented a paper on "National identity: a look at Central and Eastern Europe." Chinese expert, Zhang Jirong, Deputy Director of the Center for the study of Russia and Central Asia at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (PRC), attracted attention to such a geopolitical factor as Chinese project of creation of economic corridors from Asia to Europe (Silk Road Project)Teresa Sassinska-Klas (Poland), Professor of the Jagiellonian University, Vice-President of the International Political science Association in 2013-2016 shared observations regarding the international consequences of results of the US Presidential elections. The conference was attended by over three hundred participants who held a large number of meetings: 28 - on the main topics of the conference, 27 meetings of the RPSA research committees, 4 round table meeting of the Presidium of the Academy of Political Science, session of the Council of Young Scientists and a special event on public diplomacy in the modern world. The conference was widely covered in the mass media.
